Update on Jack
We thought it appropriate to update everyone on our dear friend and comrade Jack – at about 8:30am today, he appeared in court to begin his 1 year jail sentence (of which he is expected to serve 6 months) as a part of the plea bargain he accepted. Friends and comrades met at Oscar Grant Plaza to accompany Jack to the courthouse, sharing hugs and farewells with him along the way. As he was taken away by the pigs in the courtroom, his friends grew increasingly disgusted with the arrogance of the state until it was too much to bear – they broke the chains of self-restraint and cheers of support along with fuck yous to the state apparatus rang out. Others in orange jumpsuits, who also had to sit through the pompous, bureaucratic undertakings of the judge that day, laughed and jeered along with the rebels of the courtroom. Unfortunately, the pigs responded by kidnapping four of our friends and hauling them away. Our hearts go out to them, to Jack, and to all those who face the subjugation and domination of life at the hands of the state. With friends and comrades being arrested, doing time, enduring the horrors of cancer, and growing physically and emotionally sick of life in this toxic world, it becomes all the more evident how important it is to be dangerous together and careful with each other. Our hearts burn a raging fire to the prisons.
Photos of the RCA/Hot Mess squats in Oakland, CA.
This place and these people are fantastic. RCA has had several awesome parties with DJ’s & bands. However, they face eviction as Oakland/BART continue to develop the neighborhood for commuters.
